Phool Makhana
Phool Makhana, also known as lotus seeds or fox nuts, are a popular and nutritious snack in India. Harvested from the Euryale ferox plant, these puffed seeds are especially favored during fasting periods like Navratri due to their light, sattvic nature. Naturally low in cholesterol, fat, and sodium, makhanas are considered a healthy snacking option.
In addition to being eaten as a roasted snack, they are also widely used in Indian sweets, desserts, and savory dishes, adding both texture and subtle flavor.
Cashews
Cashew nuts are not just delicious—they’re packed with essential nutrients that offer a range of health benefits. Rich in healthy fats, particularly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, cashews can help support heart health by reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) and boosting good cholesterol (HDL).
They’re also an excellent source of vital minerals like magnesium and phosphorus for strong bones, and zinc, which plays a key role in maintaining a healthy immune system.
Millets
Millets are a group of ancient grains known for their impressive health benefits. Naturally gluten-free, they are an excellent choice for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. Rich in fiber and essential nutrients, millets support healthy digestion, aid in weight management, and help regulate blood sugar levels, making them ideal for those with diabetes or metabolic concerns.
Additionally, their high content of antioxidants and heart-friendly compounds contributes to cardiovascular health, making millets a smart addition to any balanced diet.
Turmeric
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a perennial herb in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), valued for its vibrant yellow rhizomes. Native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, turmeric thrives in warm climates with temperatures between 20–30 °C and requires high annual rainfall for optimal growth.
Widely used in cooking, traditional medicine, and wellness products, turmeric is prized for its active compound, curcumin, known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
